Picture taken in late April 2010 at Santa Monica beach.
There was a place where the water had been and left the sand like this which made it look like a mini canyon. The way I took the picture makes it look like it's huge and far, but the top of the canyon you see is about 2 feet tall only.

Beautiful shot of the ocean... is the beach always that empty there? Beaches here on the eay coast are always packed with people.

Lol I was there around noon. All the tourists are either sleeping or in Hollywood and on their way there at that hour :XD:
It's usually packed. I walked about 4 miles on the sand south of the pier (where all the tourists are) which is why it was a bit empty. But from where I took the shot to the ocean was only about 20 yards lol

The farthest west I've been is Memphis, Tennesee... maybe someday I'll make it to the west coast. How far east have you been?

Oh that isn't really west (to me) lol
Farthest East? Well I've lived in Europe when I was a kid, but if we're talking about the USA, I've been twice in the airport in Georgia.
